Ok, this is my review of the Air Blaster by Excite. It is essentially a Nightfinder knockoff. When I bought the thing I had a thought that it might be a cheapo NF that could be modded like other NFs, but I was way wrong!

As you can see in the picture it does look remarkably like a Nightfinder, but there the resemblance ends.

I should say that I did notice before I bought it that it fired those little rubber sucker darts. I figured that it could be converted during modding. Forget it. Not worth the effort.

This second pic here shows that the barrel is different, to take the rubber suckers. The laser by the way is nothing, no components or anything, just a facade and not a very good one. Oddly the ammo holders are are the size to fit Nerf ammo, but not the ammo that the gun came with.

The barrel and plunger are very different from the standard NF. The spring is garbage.

The battery compartment was side-loaded instead of through the bottom of the handle, but again it is fake. No wires or anything.

This was purchased at Rite Aid, in the section of new summer toys for kids. It was labled with a price of $5.99 but I bought it for $4.49.

Its junk! Stay away from it. It doesn't even serve as scrap. The screws are not even useable, they flake and strip immediately. This thing is a very bad parody of one of Nerf's most reliable hand-pistols. Its a discrace.

Do NF internals fit in it?

It sounds like the plastic is terrible, but still...I would like to know.

Awesome range, this could be great if you had a Nerf war in a small closet.

Not really. Perhaps with modification (Dremel work and some glue). Seriously, spend two more dollars a buy a real one.

It's bad. It's like they took a mold of a real one and then guessed at the rest.

By the way, note that there is no site rail across the top. That is another difference.

Yes, that's mainly why I asked; this is shaped like a 1st Gen. NF (which was made before N-Strike and its rails)

Nevermind, NFs were released in 2004, so if you had one when you were seven, it means you're either 12 or 13.

I've had my share of knock-offs. Some disappoint while some have potential. Could you give us a photo showing the complete internals of the toy and a size comparison with an actual NiteFinder ?
