Has anyone attempted to single a Magstrike? I know most will take issue with as the main point of the Magstrike is rapid fire. However, I was thinking that if the powerful air bladder of the Magstrike were channeled and released down a single barrel all at once, you might get some good distance.

Any thoughts on this? It should be simple enough to accomplish, but do you think the benefits would make it worthwhile?

I suppose it is possible, but you do realize that you would also need to remove the piston in order to release all the air at once, right?

Also, the small inner diameter of the tubing that connects the bladder to the trigger valve. The trigger valve itself and the tubing that comes from it are the same. This small inner diameter will restrict air flow, thus hurting range.

Awesome range, this could be great if you had a Nerf war in a small closet.

That is a good point. To make full use of the bladder it would be necessary to remove all obstructions and maybe even line it up directly behind the barrel. The valve is critical. The benefit of course would be a great deal of thrust.

Now that I think about it, the pump mechanisim would have to be replaced to force more air into the bladder per pump. Otherwise you would be standing there all day pumping away between shots.

This is starting to look like a lot of work. I'm not afraid of work if there is some payoff at the end.

The bladder is the problem.  A bladder is put into guns that need constant pressure.  To get a rapid release of pressure, you would need a rigid tank, and a VERY fast valve.

There is just no point in attempting to use a Magstrike this way.

By the time you've accomplished the goals you have already recognized, the only Magstrike part left is the bladder.  You can't even use the clamp, because the diameter of the hose openings will not allow a quick dump.  To prove this to yourself, pump up your candidate MS fully and then take your scissors to the output hose.  My bet would be that it will actually take a whole second to dump, maybe even more.

This might be a situation were buying Ironman MS might not be a bad idea....Since you won't need the extra clip anyway.

It looks like the bladder is the downfall here. I think GC is correct that the rubber bladder does not lend itself to a quick one-time release.

On a side note, I noticed that after my original post Uin13 on youtube (aka Ice on NH) had attempted to jam all kinds of stuff into a Magstrike, but he was working off a Titan air system. The only part of the Magstrike he kept was the trigger and the shell. that is not quite what I had in mind but its good to see people thinking outside the box. He hasn't got it working yet so don't go ripping apart your Magstrike yet.

He's actually trying to replicate this.

I checked this mod out on "the other forum" and WOW! That kicks mega you-know-what. That's what hardcore modding is all about.

I have seen other like mods, but in each case the Magstrike shell is the only piece that seems to be used. All the internals get the boot.

if you could make it a single you'd lose the reason it was designed. on the other better hand it would be like shooting darts out of a hornet modded for 3x the range. you could sn1pe someone from like 165 feet away!
