Yeah man go for it. I know the threads ancient, but do you guys thing craft foam would work? If I used it in the same method as Tubb?
Possibly, but in my experience it's not as flexible as felt, and therefore would be harder to wrap around a straw. Also, you'd have to use lots of glue, otherwise the dart could unravel during battle (becoming useless.) But I suppose if you were able to wrap the foam tight enough, it would have less friction than felt, thus being less likely to unravel. I think I'm just going to use FBR though. Anyhow, I'm going to make a new video tutorial for making a new version of my blowgun darts, which I will post sometime in the next few days. These ones clean the spittle out of your blowgun's barrel after every shot, so the barrel is practically always dry (unless you intentionally spit into it)! Yeah those are neat, one problem though, my nearest FBR suplier only has open-celled FBR.. I think it's called "Cool King" or something.

Just so you know aamiller, this thread is a sticky. Meaning you can post in it even if its "old".

Probably frost king. I have used that stuff in the past, and have not had any problems (but that' probably because I only make darts for my blowgun Cheesy.) I posted a link to a source of FBR earlier in this thread, though I am unsure of the quality. It's only six bucks per hundred feet and it's closed cell.

Speaking of darts/stefans, I found these yesterday at an arts and crafts shop.

I forget how much, a couple bucks. They are glittered glue sticks for adding some flash to your stefans. I had seen other Nerfers making these far out stefans and could not figure out how they were doing it. This is how.

Bought them at Michaels, they are a chain arts and crafts store in the Northeast area.

And SoCal, I've been there before.  Those are really awesome by the way.

What ranges do you think this thing has?
Well at 1500 FPS, I'd say rupture your left nut ranges.

I'm just wondering, does this look like good foam for darts? Link: http://www.contractorstoolsupply.com/12-backer-rod-per-hundred-feet-p-4208.html

It's closed cell, only six bucks per hundred feet, and it's not frost king  !

How did that foam end up? or has anyone else tried it?

If so, how does it fit in different barrels?

Thanks, i've been meaning to buy some, but unless you buy $25 in stuff, there is a $5 fee, so i'm trying to decide if I want to get 500' or not. Any word on its application for nerf?

1.500 FEET OF FOAM. BACKER ROD... Dude HOLY **** YOU COULD MAKE A TOYS R US FULL OF DARTS.
2 FBR is better than stock darts because it IMO a little stronger than stock bendability wise

3. i just made 6 stock dart mods using some hot glue and i got a huge welt on my gut....

Yeah, its a ton of FBR, and rather cheap ($36 shipped), but i'm not sure how well this will fit. Sometimes it fluctuates, but i think I'll go for it.
However, has anyone had experience with it?

Also, Nerfer327, if you want darts that hurt less, check out Felt and Washer stefans, they have washer weights with a felt disc on top which makes them hurt a lot less, while they are still accurate.

No, i havent have any experiance with it but im waiting to get some

and i figured out a reason some of my stefans suck.

i uste to put the hot tip of my hot glue gun right into the tip
THAT MELTED THE FOAM.

i now make better darts. Cheesy

on nerfx some guy posted that you can thake a (for me rounded) rubber eraser from a #2 pencil (not just to the metal) and glue it into a dart that doesnt have a tip. For glue i used a glue stick on the side of the eraser and it worked perfectly

Yes I see, that could work. They'd have to be small to fit inside, but I think its doable.
they're not nearly as big as you seem to think

I've considered making my own darts, but currently, I feel it is a waste of time and it will not come out good.

Making stefans is a skill like anything else, takes practice and patience. yeah, you will probably mess up the first few, so what. They are cheap and expendable that's their purpose.

Skip that eraser idea, the weight ratio isn't going to help. You might as well just have a blob of hotglue on there if that's all you are going to do. The weight will be about the same. You need some sort of BB or something heavy up there, coated with Hot glue of course. The mass is what helps the flight.
