The more members we get, the more we get asked asked a few questions that can be answered via one all purpose topic. This is one of those subjects. As some of you have noticed, some people who are new to forums usually don't know how to post pictures. If someone here asks you how to post a picture via PM, regular post, or other form of contact please redirect them to this topic!

How to: Post Pictures

1. Before you do anything you will need a Photobucket account click here to get one.

2. Once you got your Photobucket all set up, log in to your account. You will see the "upload images & video" heading, now, click browse to find your files and upload them.

3. Once you get files uploaded they will appear in your album on your Photobucket page.

4. Now run your mouse over the picture you just uploaded, and click "link options".

5. Now you will come to a pop-up that looks like this, copy the text under the heading "IMG for bulletin boards & forums"(right click mouse, then select copy by the text) like I have circled in the picture.

6. Now right click your mouse, and "paste" that text in while editing or posting a new thread/post.

There you have it, you posted a picture!

6. Now right click your mouse, and "paste" that text in while editing or posting a new thread/post.

It's even easier (I'm lazy) to highlight the code with the [img] tags and then copy it by hitting ctrl+c, then you can paste with ctrl+v.

You can also use pics from other people's albums the same way, just copy/paste.

Photobucket can also edit the size of the pics so you don't post something that stretches the screen and make the thread annoying to read, just click the "edit" button. You can also re-size pics as you upload them from your computer, there should be an option in the "Upload images and video" box. I think 800 x 600 is as big as you'd want to go, may depend on your monitor though, I use a laptop.

You can upload multiple pics to photobucket by holding ctrl as you click the ones you want.

If you move the pic to a different sub-album within your photobucket it could break the link and make it not display in your post. This means it's a good idea to organize your stuff as you upload it. For example, in my photobucket I have an sub-album for Nerf stuff. Makes it easier to find the pic you want to post if it's organized.

It might also be good to note that if you do it like Mega says you don't have to use the "insert image" button in the reply screen because all it does is add the [img] tags, which will already be included when you copy/paste the proper code on photobucket.

How so? http://imageshack.us/ will also accomplish the same thing.

Also we don't ask much here, but could you clean up your posts a bit please? I have trouble with spelling too, but the Mozilla FireFox web browser has a built-in spell checker and can make your posts look much better.

Download that Here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

On photobucket even if you don't resize as you upload your pics it still knocks them down to a certain size. I don't remember what the maximum size is. Anyway, I wondered if anyone knows a site where you can host photos at their maximum resolution. This could be handy for internals where you want to zoom in really close and see where a small part goes, for example.
I do know of one hosting site like this, but it's for porn so it may not be appropriate to link to, they probably wouldn't want pictures of toys guns instead of boobies on there either.

Where can I host photos at maximum resolution?

I'm pretty sure that you can adjust Photobucket's upload settings to allow for a maximum resolution of at least 1024x768. Check around the site to see if you can.

I was gonna try to use BBCode to resize an image in a post so I googled to see what the code would be. From what I gathered in that search it looks like the code depends on the forum, if it's supported at all. I tried ones like [img=width=200] and [img=150x200] but nothing worked. Does FU support any code like this?

Well I believe that for BBcode is enabled for Foam Universe.

This is an SMF forum, I dunno if the codes are different for other types of forum software.

I'm confus. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, Mega. FU does use BBCode if that's what you mean, pretty much all forums do. What I meant when I said it "depends on the forum" is that I think an admin or someone has to write a custom code or enable it or something.

Here, I'll show what I mean. This page shows some examples of BBCode.
When I use the one for image resizing it does this:

[IMG=173x150]http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l436/elc1247/1225540868890.jpg[/img]

Just shows up as text instead of cute kitteh.
