Foam Universe - Nerfers Unite!

Hey guys,

I thought it would be good to start up a thread on where to find stuff. Other forums have similar threads, such as product awareness threads, but not all of us post to those places so we should probably have our own. This is for new-ish Nerf blasters that can still be obtained through retail channels, both internet and stores. This will skip over the most common items such as Longshots, Recons, Hyperfires, Vulcans, Mavericks and Nightfinders. Just assume these can be found almost anywhere. If I can get them at the grocery store, they don’t count as a hard to find item. I’ll happily get the list started:

First, if you are looking for something in particular, by all means do the easy thing first and check the net. There are some good sites that have the latest items for sale and even if you don’t buy, you can get an idea of how much you should or could be paying.

For online shopping I recommend www.Hasbrotoyshop.com  (http://www.Hasbrotoyshop.com) as they have a couple hard to find things. I have personally purchased the Spiderman Dart Tag guns for $30  and the 3-clip refill set for the Longshot at $14. They also have the regular items as well.

Another site I like is www.Target.com  (http://www.Target.com) which has items that I can’t seem to get in their stores. They still stock Big Bad Bows online for $22  and the have the Big Bad Titan for $20. This is very cool for those who want the Titan, but don’t want to pay for the Scout and Hornet also.

A lesser known site that I have used only once is www.Boscovs.com (http://www.Boscovs.com) and the only thing I bought there were two AT2ks for $8 each. Plug in “AirTech” into their search engine.

Don’t forget www.Basspro.com (http://www.Basspro.com) if you like Angel’s Doomsayer and pump shotgun mods on u-toob. This site carries ETRL guns such as the Rapid Fire Dart Toy shot gun for $25 which is the starting point for the Doomsayer. The Foam Shooter Shotgun  that Angel modded for his friend Rambo goes for $25  as well.

Stay away from Amazon, they are no good to the wallet.  :chucks:

For walk-in stores, Toys R Us is pretty good as is their website. They have exclusives that you can’t get elsewhere. These include the Rapid Fire 20 for $30, the six-gun set of Nerf-n-Strike Attack Unit whatever for $30 (these are the colored Eliminators). They also have the original Titan kit with Hornet and Scout for $40, as well as the new Hulk version without the Scout for $30. They also have sets with a pair of Big Blasts with two smaller pistols, all four for $20 (have not seen that online just in the store).

Another good walk-in is K-Bee Toys, but I noticed that the offerings differ from store to store. The one near me usually has stuff on sale, but they rotate the sale items and it’s something different each time. For example, they have two-packs of Big Blasts on sale now for $13. They have Magstrikes for $25, though I have seen them there for less. They also carry AT3k two-packs for $20. And when last I was there, they had a short pile of AT1ks for $8 each. None of this was on their website.

There is also mixed luck to be had with Walmart and Kmart, but this is limited. They carry the Iron Man Magstrike  and the Hulk Titan/Hornet, but not much else exciting.

Well there you go fellas, I got it started for you. Keep an eye out for stuff and let us know if you find a good supply of something.

I've recently seen 2-packs of Nitefinders for $10 at KayBee Toys.

Also, KMart and Walgreens can be a good source for Buzz Bee Big Blasts and other other Buzz Bee items. Sometimes they even have Buzz Bee Shell Refills.

There have been reports of Airtech 2000s at Big Lots stores. I haven't had a chance to look, personally. Plus, I already have a ton from Kohl's.

Speaking of which, don't forget to check you're local Kohl's for Airtech 2000s, Nitefinders, and more. They are very overpriced, but are often on sale for 30% or even 40% off, and if your parents have a charge card they may get a coupon every once in a while worth an additional 15%, 20%, or 30% off. I've gotten several Airtechs for under $6.00 plus tax by utilizing these sorts of discounts...meanwhile, they're regularly $12.99!

Finally, Pistolsplat PS-800 blasters have been seen at Gander Mountain, Spencer's, Dunham's, and Cabela's. Also, I've seen the Thundersplat (which looks like a pump-action shotgun without a stock) at Cabela's stores.

I went to a different Toys r us this weekend and picked up the new Rapid Fire 20 from Nerf. Its essentially the same, they just painted it black and yellow to go along with the N-Strike theme. It was $30 by the way.

I also happened to be in Rite Aid of all places and I came across the SpiderMan 3 wrist shooters. These are different from the Spiderman Venom Dart Tag sets. They are a wrist-mounted shooter that fires one foam dart. Its a springer and they have been around since 2006 I believe. I also believe that they pre-date the three-shot Spiderman Dart Tag sets. Anyway, I saw a couple at Rite Aid for $15 each, in Spider Man and in Venom colors. This was pricey for a one shot item, but they were a novelty so I picked one up. I'll probably mount it on a larger weapon in some future mod project.

I like that spring action better than the pump on the three-shot dart tag version. I wish the springer came in a three-shot version. That would rock.  :rock:

A clear Maverick can be found at Gamestop, possibly only if you buy the Nerf N-Strike game on Black Friday (if you don't know, that's the day after Thanksgiving) but possibly otherwise. Read about it hereabouts (http://nerfhaven.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=10943&view=findpost&p=191984).

I saw that new Switch Shot  last night at Walmart. $14 for the gun, $59 for the Wii combo pack.

If anyone gets the clear Mav that Jwasko is talking about, lets us know if its any good. And post pics please.

There are Buzzbee Shell Refills at my local (SoCal) Walmart.  Also they have RFR's and pretty much every nerf pistol besides the eliminators and the scout tech target.

Items are in red are the actual items that someone may be looking for. Its just a curtsey for the reader so they can scan quickly and find the blaster that they may be looking for. ok?

Lanard does not make a Big Blast.

yeah, its called the LBB, or Lanard Blast Bazooka, they also make the LSB, which is Lanard Sonic Bazooka. 

The LSB sucks IMO, because my freind left one pumped overnight and then I shot it and the whole trigger/tank system failed.

I saw just two days ago a Buzz Bee Big Blast, Lanard Sonic Bazooka, Doubleshot, and a Tek Six ripoff all at Albertsons.  Surprising as it may be, the BBBB was on sale for $10 and so was the SB.  I tried to get teh BBBB but my dad was sick of buying guns  :anger: even though I pay for them.  I will eventually go back with my mom and get one.  :bgrin:

Made by Air Zone, the same guys who made the Blast Bazooka, looks like a cheap knock-off of Nerf's DTB. Holds 8 rounds and similar spring-op mechinism, I can't be sure just looking at the picture. Two-pack for $21.19 TRU online. Looks neat.

Yes I saw them at TRU.  A littler larger than a mav, and they look promising.  Might have to get me one.

Nothing is "made by" Air Zone, that's just a name whichToysRUs slaps on stuff they buy in lots big enough to insist on their own label.

This is almost certainly made by Banzai, not Lanard.

There still cool though.  Is banzai known to have good/not good quality?

Banzai is the company that makes PBPB's, the plastic quality is as good if not better then Nerfs. When they make guns that utilize a plunger, The spring is beefy and it is well sealed.

They also make some very sturdy and IMO cool looking water guns.

Triggerless, so they're pump-and-go, but they appear very solidly built.  I got this pack on sale for $7.56 when I needed a filler item on Amazon.  The black piece on the top one is a folding stock.  At least one of them should get a trigger and a dart mechanism some time next year. Unless they both prove to actually be good water guns.

So I went to Toys R Us for the first time in a long time today. After taking a while to find the Nerf aisle, I entered it and promptly exclaimed:

"Holy Crap!

That's right, Air Zone re-released the ArrowStorm. As far as I know, (not actually owning a Nerf Arrowstorm myself) it works the same and is about the same size.

It's $20 at Toys R Us in Monroeville, PA (which is around Pittsburgh, if you don't know).

I own a bunch of Arrowstorms.  I think it's a terrific blaster when you add micro barrels.

What stock ammo do these new things shoot?
I think I may just have to go look for them TODAY.

Another EDIT:  I'm joining the AZAS camp :-)  I'm going to end my efforts to call it "ASKO" because the "knock-off" portion seems derogatory, and I believe this is a first-rate blaster, probably the equal of the original.

And, yes, Bob...I've wanted a Nerf AS since seeing them in action in old West Coast war videos about a year ago; however, I could never afford/win one.

I think I have five original Arrowstorms now.  Including the one in coop's writeup, and one that's still being shipped. 

I might like the new one a lot, also.  Although I don't think the handgrips are as comfortable, and that's pretty important to me.  But I have already discovered a couple of "plus" features.  The top handle being part of the main body makes additional firing modes possible, and the shape of the very back end is more comfortable for one-handed firing by holding one's thumb on the back.

After opening it up, I have to say that if there were any patents or other protection on the original design, this probably violates almost all of them.  The name is just the icing.  And anyone who might consider paying $20 for just an Arrowstorm spring should go for it.  ALL of the research, planning, and prototyping I've done toward adding a catch and a true trigger still applies.

It's also proving to be even more difficult to reassemble than the original, largely because they put all the screws on the opposite side without rearranging some of the other details that have "sidedness"

Here's my "capsule review" -- I'm already planning to go get at least one more.


One CAUTION on the new ArrowStorm - DO NOT MIX THE SCREWS.  They look very much the same, but the five that hold the moving handle part together are too small for the main shell.

The pegs are a little big compared to more "modern" blasters like a Nitefinder, but you can squeeze a micro dart over it.

there is a circle of darts, much like an rf20, with the big blast bullet in the middle.

Yup, that's the one, Bob. At the one where I go they are in the toy area. That's just kinda the nature of a store like that, a bit disorganized.

Matt, I have a Nerf Stampede I got from ebay, I'll sell it to you for $100. :haha: Seriously, it's not likely that these will be made in real life, and if anyone had any real, non-speculation, news about it you would know it because there would be a giant topic about it, just like the Raider.

Also, a trademark is not the same thing as a patent. I've seen a lot of people say that these are "patent pending", but I've not seen a link that show that they have a patent. And if they are just trademarked, that means nothing.

Whats a flip clip? I havent heard anything about it.

The N-Strike Flip Clip pack comes with 2 clips, 30 streamline foam darts and a clip connector.

The clip connector basically attaches together the bases of 2 clips, so after you finish firing the 1st clip, just unload, flip it over and load in the 2nd clip.

Yes... as many have mentioned, you could also simply DIY duct tape 2 existing clip together to get the same function.  :bgrin:

I just noticed something in the back of the Recon box. theres a hole in the stock. does the plunger cap go in it now? that would be great since it would reduce the wobblyness.

It would be so cool to put LEDs in one of those....

On the real gun the reverse plunger is exactly the same size and there is no hole. THe 1st gen Recons had a long plunger tube, but the O-ring only goes halfway into it. The 2nd gen Recons just have the space that's needed.

Yep, the artwork on the box shows a hole.  The production Recons have never had such a hole, though.  It is likely that the artist who drew the illustrations was working from a prototype blaster that was not quite made to the actual design.

I saw some Kung-Fu Panda crossbows ($7) and Prince Caspian wrist crossbow things ($5) at Tuesday Morning today. I searched a bit here and at the haven but didn't find much. Can anyone tell me if they're any good? I saw Just Some Bob call the Kung-Fu Panda one a "hidden gem" or something like that in a post, are ya reading this, Bob?

If you've seen the size of the plunger you would know why its a "gem".Its larger than a ttg.

The new Furyfire, Stormfire, and Flip Clip sets are all at the TRU in Danbury Connecticut.

My eyes nearly exploded out of my head. It looks like they rearranged the toy area and it's out with the old (clearance) and in with the new.

They have the Buzz Bee Berserker, one is sitting on my floor next to me now, more to come in it's own thread in a bit with internal pics and maybe a write-up. $20, by the way.

They also had the Buzz Bee Belt Blaster, it was a tough choice between this and the Berserker, I'm sure I'll get one of these sometime soon too lol. These were also $20, I saw them at TRU for $30 a few days ago.

Rapid Fire 20, yellow/black N-Strike version. This is the first time I've ever seen one in a store, I thought they were OOP or only in Canada currently. They had a "only at Target" sticker on the box, $25.

Pistol Splat blue/silver paintball version. Never seen these at my Targets before. $15.

Other new stuff was the same as a lot of people have spotted lately, flip clips, Eliminator Tech Target (these were $15 compared to $20 at TRU)

On clearance were Switch-Shots for $3.74, I snagged one of those too. Yellow Magstrike was $10 or $11, I don't remember. 4B was $7-8.
It looked like all the squirt guns were on clearance sale, I don't know much about 'em, never converted one. Also, not Nerf-related but Mighty Muggs on sale too, I got a Soundwave,  :bgrin:

My Wal-Mart carries Raiders now. I live in Canada, is this a bit early?

not really new nerf products, but today on 1-day vacation, i went to Corpus Christi at 10 am and found a Goodwill. There, near the entrance i found 2 classic nerf guns: a blue Sharp Shooter with a MEGA dart and a ammoless MB-1. both were $1.99 each. i excitedly took them so little kids cant get them lol. tommorow imma go to a indoor flea market. if i find/buy a nerf gun, ill immediately edit this post when i comeback.

EDIT: alright i bought 2 blasters: a yellow mech tommy 20 for 5 dollars and a buzzsaw for 1 DOLLAR!!!

Wal-mart carries rather up to date new guns and re-releases, a few days ago i found a red bbb, a yellow long Shot,NF's,Mav's, Big blast, Tommy 20, rapid fire shot gun, recon, and many more, mainly the most up to date guns. No real older guns like a Air tech though.

 i'm rather sure that wal-mart only tends to carry just Nerf and Buzz Bee.   

i went to a thrift store and found a Titan and a Reactor. i was like O.O! i was gonna buy the Titan for 2.45 but i couldnt find the missle so i didnt want it. was working fine though. so i got the Reactor for 45 cents.

I have found Buzz Bee Belt Blasters at my local TRU and Target. I have also found several Yellow and Black Rapid Fire 20's that are advertised as 'Nerf N-Strike Rapid Fire Blaster - CS-20' on their website, and are evidentally Target Exclusives. Original [purple] Big Bad Bows and Yellow Magstrikes are also still for sale on Target's website. Nerf Dart Tag Furyfire 2 player sets and Nerf Dart Tag Capture the Flag sets are also available at Target and TRU.

The 100' missile range is probably a maximum range (fired at a 45 degree angle). On the other hand, I have heard that the original release of the XXL was taken off store shelves due to the fact that it was deemed dangerously powerful.

There were some of this (Banzai) version available from JCPenney online shortly before that writeup was made. They were quickly stripped bare by the descending swarm of NIC members after someone posted a link on the Haven (http://nerfhaven.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=10943&view=findpost&p=203806).

Hey guys, check this out. Many of you may have read about or seen the pistolsplat or its numerous variations. I came across yet another version at Walmart. They call it the Wipeout and its orange with yellow highlights, but its essentially the same gun. As you may or may not know it shoots foam darts with powdered chalk on the front end.

I picked one up for $9 and I must say its the best $9 I have ever spent on Nerf or related weaponry. Bone stock without barrel modification or even the removal of air-restrictors the thing rocks! Do a search on Pistolsplat and you'll find plenty of mods for it here and elsewhere.

Anyway, bottom line is that its dirt cheap and rocks out of the box. If you're mod skills bite grab one of these and it won't matter. It takes stock ammo without any prob, it will need modding if you want to use stefans.

Not trying to stun your thunder (see what I did there?), but Wipeout pistols have been around for a while but in their purple(?) and silver PJ.

This new orange and yellow version is cheaper than the other ones I've seen, $13 here though. Better than $15 at Target and $20 at places like Sports Authority though. Also they're the first ones I've seen at Wal-Mart. They really are excellent blasters. You kids that fap over Longshots, Recons and Raiders should check 'em out.

Yes, thank you, technically its not 'New' and I did mention that one could do a search for other versions on the forums. That brings up another point; the earlier versions 'Blizzard' etc. were shooting paint pellets. This 'Wipeout' version is shooting foam darts (with chalk on the end) that are not unlike stock ammo. A noob could be getting very respectable ranges with stock ammo and no modifications for only $9. That is the point I was trying to draw attention to.

This is not too new, the spy gear Signal Launcher, found at ToysRUs for $7.50. Looks like they dropped the price to get them out the door. This may be important to some folks because the Signal Launchers have been gaining interest lately for modding. They pack a surprising punch for a compact pump gun, easily converted from projectiles to stefans.

I was at an Atwoods (a farm supply store) today. It looked like they added to their toy section for the holiday season. They had ERTL PAS, but they were $30.

I was more interested in the knock-off Tech Target.

One of the boxes was open and I could see that it was regular sized and not the mini versions you see some places. The target is pretty badass too. It says "target" right on it in case you didn't know what it was and as you can see in the pic, it makes dog, cat and bird noises depending on where you shoot it.  :lol:
It was $10, I think I'll go back and grab one soon.


They also had a thing kind of like a Big Blast. The rockets where close to the same size (as the ones for the 4B) but the blaster was smaller. Also $10.

Yo, just at walmart. They had Raiders with 2 drum mags. Yes, the one it comes with plus a bonus drum in same package. I hope this really screws over the boobs on ebay that are selling the drums and Raiders seperately tying to make a fast buck. With Nerf dumping a ton of drums into the market demand should drop on ebay.

I noticed this too. I'm a bit pissed that I bought one that didn't have the extra mag. I'd rather have that than a giant pile of streamlines.
Maybe I'll just buy one on ebay lol. :P

I'm in the same boat as you.

The new "Red Dot Sights" for the N-Strike series are out and about too.  Picked one up from TRU and it ain't half bad.  The shell kind of gives it a Firefly REV-8-esque feel if you ask me.  Looks kinda silly on weapons with large rails like the Raider or Longshot.  Weapons with shorter rails like the Maverick, NiteFinder, and Firefly look much cooler with it.  Still not sure how I feel about it on a Recon... the jury is out on that one.

This probably won't matter to anyone here but Bignib; ToysRUs have the mech Tommy 20 now in blue. Interesting ti see a company doing the opposite of what Nerf does with their colors i.e. going from urine yellow to cool blue rather than vise versa.

now that christmas is coming up, theres a big sale going on in walmart. there was some clear mavericks, red recons and longshots, super value of blue longshot with dual light beam and recon barrel, and others. my dad loves to piss me off for not buying me ANYTHING. i *censored*  hate him today.

I too noticed another batch of clear Mavericks at Walmart a few days ago. Small swords are down to $8, and $11 Iron Man Magstrikes.

I wondered about this. I have recently seen an absolute deluge of clear mavs on EBay and I wondered where the heck they were all coming from. They range in price from $15-$30 by the way.

I got a clear Mav from a local Wal-Mart, too.

It's so awesome.

Yeah, I got one off eBay, couldn't find one at any local Wal-Marts.  Got it for about $25 and it shoots like a first gen Mav.  Pretty sweet.  Also you can see the internals moving, pretty fun to just watch yourself fire it.

It would be so awesome to rig one of those up with LEDs or cold cathodes.

Say, has anyone seen the semi-auto spring pistols on SGnerf, more specifically in SG Toys? They just might smack the maverick in the face if they come out in the states!

That's kinda interesting, seems like it would have a very short stroke and weak spring if it's primed by the trigger pull but it's a nifty idea. Could be handy for HvZ where rate of fire > range. Also it says "no-brand" but it looks a lot like a Buzz Bee Tek-6 turret.

You could do a spring replacement or addition, so the real question is: how good your trigger finger is.
On another note, these are actually a pretty big step in foam ballistics, there's now such thing as a reliable true semi-auto.

Found something moderately interesting, at the Lego store in two different malls that I went to. They had repackaged BBBBs. They changed the name, changed the colors but they were deffinately BBBBs. $19. Not a deal and I didn't buy one, but there you go.

I saw those before. Not bad since regular 4Bs seems to have disappeared. Also of note is that the Lego version has a sturdier trigger set-up (like the Berserker).

A Target near me (it's in Brandon, FL) has Raiders on sale for $24.99, fully a $10 price reduction. This seems to be a store-only occurrence, as their website still lists the Raider at full price.

My local Target also has them on sale for $24.99. Mines the Bonney Lake store, in Washington. That's how i got my Raider.

How common are "Clear Blasters" in stores? I've been hearing their suppose to come out August 1 but it seems like people online are saying some stores have them. If so, how common is it to see clear blasters in stores?

Just went to the Target in San Gabriel CA, and they had Alpha Troopers. I bought two for a cousin and myself. Just needed to give them the DCPI code and a guy grabbed them out the back for me.

I tried to give them the DCPI codes for the Stampede and Tactical Vest. They said they didn't have any of the Stampedes, and the DCPI code for the Tactical Vest gave them an error of some sort. Like it wasn't in their inventory AT ALL.

Any codes out there to get the stampede like you guys had for the raider last year, or the alpha trooper

check both of my local TRU's in brooklyn for the barrel break yesterday and today, but didn't find any.
I haven't checked out my target's for the alpha trooper, but it does say on target.com that they are avaiable in the stores near me.

They have the alpha trooper online at target but its out of stock online.  You might see it in your stores.  They also have pretty much all of the clear series except the clear raider is out of stock.  I find that to be a waste if you already have one.

You should starting seeing Alpha Troopers on Target shelves since their suppose to come out in August. If not try giving them the DCPI number!

Alpha Troopers, Camo Darts, and Clear versions of the Recon, Maverick, Nite Finder, Deploy, and Raider are all starting to show up at local Target stores in Omaha, NE.  Also, the Barrel Break is at all of the Omaha Toys R Us locations, along with the clear Nite Finder and Maverick, but no Recons, Raiders, Deploys or camo darts.  I have seen no sign of the Stampede at any stores in the Omaha area as of yet.

i checked out target in brooklyn and they had the tactical vest, clear deploys,recons, mavericks, and night finders plus the alpha trooper and the the new camo darts (1 pack of whistlers and one pack of suction).
